Initial Consultation & Examination
Your dentist examines your gums and teeth to assess plaque and tartar levels.
Step 2
Scaling & Polishing
- Using a hand scaler or ultrasonic instrument to remove plaque and calculus from tooth surfaces above and below the gum line to prevent gum disease.
- Polishing will be done using polishing paste for regular stains or air powder polishing (Prophy-jet) for removing more stubborn stains.
Step 3
Post-treatment Oral Care
- Mild sensitivity or slight bleeding may occur but usually resolves quickly. You can resume normal eating and drinking immediately.
- Proper home care with brushing & flossing will keep your gum healty before the next cleaning procedure in 6 months time.

Brush twice a day, floss daily, and go easy on the pressure, over-brushing can cause gums to recede. Scaling and polishing every six months clears away the plaque and tartar brushing alone won’t reach.
Can I Eat Right After Treatment?
