Getting to know our Dentist
How do you help patients who feel anxious about dental visits?
I always start slow and take the time to understand why they’re anxious. It’s often linked to a bad past experience or a fear of pain. Building trust and helping someone work through that fear so they can return to good oral health is incredibly rewarding for me.

If you could bust one myth about dental health, what would it be and why it matter?
Flossing is super important! Brushing alone is not enough! Diligent flossing can prevent so many teeth from being lost to decay and gum disease, and it truly makes a world of difference in long-term oral health.
What are some fun-facts about you?
I can speak Japanese! And whenever I get the chance to, I love travelling overseas to go hiking. Exploring new trails and landscapes is one of my favourite ways unwind and recharge.

What’s the most meaningful compliment you’ve ever received from a patient?
One of the most touching moments in my career was receiving a handmade christmas card from a little girl who used to be terrified of the dentist. Now, she actually looks forward to her six-monthly check-ups. It was such a heartfelt gesture and it genuinely brought tears to my eyes.
