Invisalign user, 26 years old Sabrina Goh, has been using Invisalign for almost 1 year. Here she shares her experience with incorporating Invisalign care into her daily routines.
Spring travel is finally over. Having just returned from an unforgettable trip to Switzerland, I can’t help but reflect on the amazing experiences and the beautiful sights I encountered.
From sampling the freshest cheeses in Gruyère to hiking to the foot of the majestic Matterhorn, every moment was a blend of excitement and discovery.
Amidst all the fun and adventure, one thing I managed to keep under control was my Invisalign care routine, all thanks to my well-prepared travel kit.
Before I share what’s in my Invisalign travel kit, let me preface that it was a semi-minimized kit. As our mode of transport between the Switzerland cities was via trains, I made sure to pack light, with only the essentials for a 2-week trip.
Starting with the basics – 2 pouches, a day-out pouch and a larger pouch that contains end-of-day cleansing items. Having 2 different pouches allows me to grab what I need only for a day out, leaving bulkier items in my hotel room.
Day-Out Pouch
My day-out pouch contains a small bottle of hand sanitiser, my aligner case, a small bottle of Listerine and chewies. These are just what I need for a meal or snack, nothing much else – sanitize my hands before removing my aligners, keeping them in the case while I enjoy my food, and a quick rinse with Listerine before putting the aligners back. Most times, the chewies are not needed, but I bring them along just in case.
The Larger Pouch…
At the end of the day when I settle back in the comforts of my hotel room, the major cleansing starts. Every night, the aligners will be rinsed out with water, brushed with their soft-bristled toothbrush and gentle, clear soap to remove any debris or food particles accumulated during the day. After a good rinse, I like to dry them out with a clean towel before putting them back. All these go into a dedicated pouch, aside from my toiletries bag.
Seems an excessive number of pouches, I know; but this seems to work best for me. It’s efficient, and easy for packing and unpacking during a trip with multiple hotel changes. Of course, I was tempted to skip my usual oral care routine, but consistency is key to an effective Invisalign treatment. My travel kits simplified my routines, and I am rather pleased I could maintain my aligner routine even on the go.
Hope these tips and experiences help you prepare for your travels. Keep your smiles bright and beautiful, happy travels!
